Youth Programmes

LIFEbeat youth programmes are developed around three core principles: youth leadership, arts for change, and building creative communities.

Youth Leadership

LIFEbeat embeds strong youth voice, participation, and leadership within all of our programmes and community. We aim to facilitate inclusive spaces where young people (aged 14-20) use their experience to not only receive support but actively participate in shaping, changing, and contributing to the health and cohesion of their different groups, networks, and communities on a local level.

Creative Communities

Since 2009, LIFEbeat has delivered over 40 youth-centred residentials that build creative, diverse, and intergenerational communities. Our signature summer residential camps bring together 50 young people aged 14-19 with a group of peer mentors and 25 staff and volunteers for an intensive 8-day programme.

In addition to the summer camps, we have run several weekend and shorter programmes with intentions of community building and empowering youth voice.

Arts for Change

Creativity is at the heart of LIFEbeat. We believe that a wide range of creative expression allows young people to explore and experience themselves and their own strengths and styles of leadership and group participation.

We bring diverse groups of young people together to talk about issues they face in their community, and then we support them to develop their ideas and put change into action using the arts. (See video, right)
