LIFEbeat offers a unique, inspirational volunteering opportunity for individuals who want to step up and inspire the next generation. We provide full training and mentoring, no youth work experience is necessary… just the willingness to jump in, with a strong commitment to the wellbeing and positive potential of the young people! Volunteers with LIFEbeat usually report feeling more inspired and empowered in their own lives.
“I have volunteered on LIFEbeat summer camps since 2009 …. I’ve met amazing people and lifelong friends, developed my creativity and changed career because of LIFEbeat. This programme is helping me learn how to grow vibrant creative communities.” – LIFEbeat volunteer
Equal Opportunities
One of our primary goals is to breakdown the divisions in society and to create a camp community where all participants learn from others different to themselves. We are therefore committed to creating staff teams that are as diverse and inclusive as possible. We take age, gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation and background into account when building the volunteer staff teams for each camp.
The LIFEbeat Volunteering Pathway
Your journey begins with a LIFEbeat Creative Practice training where you will experience our creative methodology through a two-day experiential workshop. You will explore your own creativity and try new things in a safe, learning environment. You will discover our approach to building community and begin to integrate LIFEbeat’s values. Participants are often surprised and nourished by the authentic connections they make with others.
Following attendance at a Creative Practice workshop, you will be invited to apply to join camp staff team where you will be asked about your background, the skills and experience you would like to share.
On acceptance of your application, you will be asked to sign an agreement, which includes our Child Protection Policy. You will undertake a full DBS check with a view to safeguarding the young people we serve. You will be invited to attend the Staff Training weekend and additional Child Protection, Health and Safety training.
The day before the camp adventure begins, all staff and volunteers come together for further team building and training. You will then be assigned a staff mentor to support you every step of the way during your camp volunteering journey.
After the camp you will be invited to join a full staff debrief and offered an individual mentoring session with a member of the LIFEbeat core team. This will support you to share your reflections, to integrate your learning and importantly to help us to improve our programmes.
Finally you will have option of joining our wider LIFEbeat community network, where you will receive newsletters and invitations to gatherings and reunions to continue the LIFEbeat adventure.
