“We are delighted to be collaborating with Somerset County Council and the Public Health Team. We are excited to bring LIFEbeat’s unique creative trainings and youth programmes to Somerset schools. We will aim to nurture schools communities which enhance the mental health and wellbeing of both staff and pupils in the county”
Lucy Sicks, LIFEbeat CEO
In 2017, LIFEbeat embarked on a collaborative journey with Somerset Council, Public Health to deliver PSHE training for schools county-wide as a key part of Somerset’s Children & Young People’s Plan 2016-2019 and their Education Improvement Strategy. LIFEbeat was briefed with building a PSHE community in Somerset, providing creative practices to enliven teaching and learning and to enhance the wellbeing of both staff and pupils.
In addition, LIFEbeat has been involved in the design and delivery of bespoke teacher trainings to enhance the Somerset Wellbeing Framework for schools based around three pillars: Belonging; Healthy Relationships and Healthy Lifestyles. Using our unique, creative, experiential training, we are now working to embed LIFEbeat practices as a whole school approach to enhance the mental health and wellbeing of pupils and staff across the county.
“Very impressed with the LIFEbeat team and could see all those who had participated in the PSHE programme, both teaching staff and school nursing, were buzzing from their experience”
Trudi Grant, Director of Public Health
In August 2019 we delivered our first LIFEbeat summer camp programme for young people in Somerset. The programme was designed to enhance the self-esteem, social skills, emotional literacy and resilience of participants and has established a cohort of Somerset Wellbeing Champions within participating schools.
